I painted the healing angel as a protective figure to help remove fear for those in need of a soothing presence. Butterflies are symbols of transformation. An earthbound caterpillar goes into a chrysalis of its own making and emerges as a beautiful winged being. Frightening change, that can even send us into emotional hiding, sometimes allows us ultimately to soar. A wise person said, “When one door closes another door opens. But it’s hell in the hallway.” The butterfly angel is to help us through those times when we find ourselves standing in the hallway. She is holding an armful of stars.
