Shamanic Swan

Shamanic Swan

A trumpeter swan came to me in a dream and instructed me to paint her sitting on a nest in the middle of a mountain lake, with a crown on her head, and with the sun and moon above. I visualized her as a shamanic power animal. Therefore I painted a door in the moon through which one can enter the shamanic worlds. I knew nothing previously about trumpeter swans, but then read that they build large nests in the middle of mountain lakes on top of muskrat lodges that lie beneath the water. They have long, straight necks and a pink streak on their beaks.
